The Algonquin Hotel to Host Author Rosie Schaap as she Previews her New Memoir
"Drinking with Men"
The Penguin Previews at The Roundtable Series Kicks off the Next Round of Intimate Author
Events on October 24

NEW YORK, NY (October 4, 2012) – Following its grand reopening, The Algonquin Hotel and Penguin Group (USA) are excited to announce the continuation of the “Penguin Previews at The Round Table Series”, by welcoming author Rosie Schaap, as she unveils a sneak peak of her new memoir “Drinking with Men” on October 24th. The second event in the quarterly Meet Penguin series follows a successful launch of the program in June, which coincided with New York Book & Media Week as well as the grand re-opening of the hotel following a six-month, multi-million dollar renovation.

The woman behind the wildly popular New York Times Magazine “Drink” column, Rosie’s new memoir, “Drinking with Men” is told from a distinctly female perspective and chronicles the camaraderie and sense of community that can only be found at a bar. This poignant and funny memoir is written in rich, colorful prose by a true native New Yorker. It couldn't be more fitting that she previews the book at the historic Algonquin Hotel, best known for its literary heritage.

Event Details – Wednesday 24 October, 2012 6:30 – 7:30pm
Hotel guests and locals are welcome to join Rosie as she previews her memoir. Attendees will be treated to a mixology demonstration of Rosie’s favorite cocktails with a bartender from The Algonquin’s famed Blue Bar.

"I'm honored to read from 'Drinking With Men' at the Algonquin Hotel as part of the Penguin Preview Series," says Rosie Schaap. "The Algonquin is celebrated as a meeting place for New York's greatest literary minds, and to be part of its history is thrilling. I can't wait to shake up some cocktails with readers and friends. It's going to be a great night out."

The Series Continues
The Algonquin Hotel and Penguin Group (USA) will continue this literary celebration, by hosting a Penguin Preview at The Round Table every quarter, open to both hotel guests and the public. All future author line-ups and Penguin Preview Series details to be announced.

Note to the Press: Interviews with General Manager Gary Budge and Rosie Schaap are available upon request.
